The Panama Project: Where Rotary Reefs Began
In Bocas del Toro, Panama, one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth, The Panama Project brings Rotarians, local families and partners together around one shared mission. It is a 7 Seas Initiative project with the Rotary Club of Newport Beach.
Rotary Reefs at Isla Solarte
Community managed coral nurseries and protected marine zones at Isla Solarte. A nurse shark now lives on the reef full time.
Built with communities, measured, and made to be copied
Every project is built with communities, not for them. Each initiative is scored with the 4-7-8-17 Global Success Program (47817.org), and the model is designed so other coastal communities can follow it.
More work in Bocas del Toro
Clean water and solar for local schools, Great Green Macaw habitat restoration, ocean health lessons for students, and health and dental care for island children.
Sponsor a reef this Rotary year
Any Interact, Rotaract or Rotary club can sponsor a reef, and we build your club a free funding page.
