Youth & student programs

The CoralReef Interact Club

The next generation of reef scientists and conservationists is already in action. Support the students making it happen.

Interact Club · Randolph Union High School, Vermont
CoralReef Interact Club
Student-led coral reef restoration · Bahamas 2027 expedition
🎓 Youth-led · PADI certified · Field science

"This trip is not only beneficial but necessary for students like me to truly see the beauty of coral and to truly comprehend the damage we are doing to it." — Antonio, Bahamas 2026 student-diver & PADI certified Reef Rescuer

About the program
  • 17 high school students earning SCUBA certifications
  • Live-aboard expedition to the Exuma Cays, Bahamas
  • Working alongside coral scientists at the Perry Institute
  • Planting critically endangered coral fragments on decimated reefs
  • Coral nursery maintenance, disease cleaning, fish surveys
  • 3rd consecutive Bahamian restoration trip (2024, 2026, 2027)
Why it matters
  • Coral reefs provide nursery habitat for 25% of the world's fish species
  • Hands-on field science builds the next generation of conservationists
  • Students from Vermont gain exposure to marine ecosystems they'd never otherwise access
  • Every $5/month from the community makes this program accessible to more students
"Seeing the coral reefs in person, especially how degraded some of them are, made it feel a lot more real and important."
— Jack, Bahamas 2026 student-diver & PADI certified Reef Rescuer
